What To Wear To Your Photo Session
Having a hard time picking what to wear for engagement photos? No worries! Here are my tips…
Any photographer will tell you that what you wear to your session will change the outcome of your photos. Something as simple as wearing a bright colored shirt or a super fancy dress will alter the vibe of the photos you’re wanting. A photographers editing style also effects colors in an image so I normally guide my clients to wear outfits that will edit well. Here’s the tips I usually send to my clients to help pick their outfits for a session.
Be comfortable! Dress as fancy or as laidback as you want. These are your photos and I want you to be comfortable. Wear what makes you feel most like you!
Try to wear solid colors rather than a lot of patterns. Patterns tend to distract from the photos and your beautiful faces.
When choosing what colors to wear I suggest choosing more neutral colors to not clash with your location. This is probably the most important factor to take into consideration when picking out an outfit for photos. Muted colors, like tan, are always safer than bold colors, like a hot pink. Bold colors also don’t edit well and typically never stay true to color while also making your skin tone look natural. The best way to go is with neutral colors that compliment your location. If you’re at the beach maybe a soft white dress. At a fun desert shoot maybe try something rust colored.
No matching if you are doing a shoot with 2+ people. Go for a similar color palette instead! It usually looks better to wear colors that complement each other rather than matching outfits. You can also wear a similar color palette that is neutral colors for bonus points!
